Akron Candle Company has ventured into its second chapter, as it has passed hands from founder/candlemaker, Blair Scott, to Urban Buzz in 2021. While our background has always been pouring beeswax candles, dipping our toes into the soy wax world has been exciting.

Akron Candle Company (ACC) prides itself on using premium soy wax and scents, cotton wicks, quality tins and hand-painted glass tumblers made here in Ohio. Each candle is hand-poured with love from our home near the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. As every Akronite is always excited by the sight of the blimp soaring high in the sky, ACC candles have received an equally welcome reception from their packaging and more importantly their scrumptious scents. They make the perfect hostess gift, teacher gift, Secret Santa gift, or simply a gift for yourself!

How it all began:
In the summer of 2017, Blair and his wife Liz, owner of once stationery boutique Lovely Somethings, were traveling through upstate New York and brainstorming ideas for her shop as they popped into the many quaint and bustling shops. Blair found himself intrigued by the idea of creating a physical product and upon leaving one of the shops declared “I’m going to make candles!” Starting a small business is never that simple of course. After much testing and trials, the first editions of Akron Candle Company candles were launched in the fall of 2017. He continued to add scents, wax melts and limited editions for the next 5 years. As the wick was burning so strongly in other areas of Blair’s life, his flame for pouring wax dwindled, but he didn’t want to see the business extinguished. (See what we did there!) Liz contacted Kaley as they had done a past event together, and began the discussions of giving the business to her. They trusted that she would maintain the quality of the products while balancing the love for and inclusion of the spirit of Akron.
