Candle Care

Though beeswax represents simplicity relative to candle wax, it is equally as superior, which can require some extra time and attention.

Follow these tips to get the most out of your beeswax candle:

3" Pillar & Vintage Pillar Candles:

  • Remove label and set candle on a plate or holder in a draftless area.
  • Trim wick to 1/4 inch to experience a bright, clean flame. Continue to trim wick to 1/4 inch before each burning session, this will prevent soot and a large flame.
  • As your pillar burns, you can "hug" the candle simply by pressing the sides gently inward to help the outside wax melt easier.
  • If you notice the wick is leaning more towards one side, use a metal instrument such as a wick dipper to help the wick center itself again. This will help the candle burn evenly.
  • We recommend using a candle snuffer or wick dipper to eliminate smoke when extinguishing the flame.

Glass Jars:

  • Trim wick to 1/4 inch to experience a bright, clean flame. Continue to trim wick to 1/4 inch before each burning session, this will prevent soot and a large flame.
  • Allow 3-4 hours for each burn, especially the first one, this will help to avoid tunneling.
  • To avoid tunneling, allow the wax pool to reach the outer edge of the candle during the initial burn.
  • If you notice the wick is leaning more towards one side, use a metal instrument such as a wick dipper to help the wick center itself again. This will help the candle burn evenly.
  • We recommend using a candle snuffer or dipper to eliminate smoke when extinguishing the flame.

 Votives:

  • Trim wick to 1/4 inch to experience a bright, clean flame. Continue to trim wick to 1/4 inch before each burning session, this will prevent soot and a large flame.
  • Since votives are intentionally crafted to drip and spill out, we recommend burning all votive candles inside a heat resistant container.
  • Votive candles will burn for approximately 15 hours.
  • We recommend using a candle snuffer or wick dipper to eliminate smoke when extinguishing the flame.

Tea Lights:

  • Tea Lights are best burned in one sitting, not multiple burns.
  • Tea lights will burn between 2-3 hours and extinguish on their own.

Owls:

  • Set candle on a plate or holder in a draftless area.
  • Trim wick to 1/4 inch to experience a bright, clean flame. Continue to trim wick to 1/4 inch before each burning session, this will prevent soot and a large flame.
  • If you notice the wick is leaning more towards one side, use a metal instrument such as a wick dipper to help the wick center itself again. This will help the candle burn evenly.
  • We recommend using a candle snuffer or wick dipper to eliminate smoke when extinguishing the flame.

Lastly, a friendly reminder to recycle your empty jars and plant the seed paper labels, helping us achieve our sustainable goals like creating thriving pollinator friendly habitats. To remove any leftover wax from your jar, freeze or heat it in an oven at no more than 160 degrees then wipe clean with a rag. Reuse your clean jar as a planter, pen or accessory holder, to name a few examples.
